Amuse is probably the most prolific artist in the Christian Deep/Minimal Tech House genre with a long list of quality releases on labels like MK837, Tech The Truth and Deep4Jesus.
Amuse also has an instantly recognisable style in his production with uncomplicated beats, heavily distorted preacher-style vocal samples, etherial chord progressions and deep rhythmic bass hooks.
“Hallelujah” features a lot of these hallmarks and is a track that grooves along gently without really hitting any major peaks. The minor chords give it a slightly darker tone that sits slightly in opposition to the joyful title of the track. In thinking about it, I was reminded of how we, as believers, still have so much to be joyful about and to praise God for even when we find ourselves surrounded by the darkness of the things we see in the world.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5)
