Chris Howland – Next to Me

“Next To Me”, a chilled tropical house track from Found Beats regular Chris Howland has been sitting in the “Draft” queue for the blog for a while now. Not really sure why I hadn’t gotten round to writing the review but now seems like the ideal time.

Why?

Chris has recently posted the stems on SoundCloud as free downloads so you can have a go at remixing the track (see the link at the bottom of the review).

The original mix is full of summer vibes blending chilled beats, smooth rhodes chords, flute riffs and warm bass notes. On top of this, the heavily processed vocals add to the relaxed feel of the track giving a sense of release from handing over control to God and laying your burdens on him.

“Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.” (Psalm 42:7 NIV)

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30 NIV)

If you fancy trying your hand at remixing “Next To Me” the stems are available HERE.

Please be sure to read the full description on the playlist as it contains details about copyright restrictions.
