“Even if the moon won’t shine
And even if the sun won’t rise
Even if the lights go out
You’re glowing within me
Even if the darkness comes
The heart of you will still shine on
When you call me I will run
The world will see, the world will see
Your light in me”
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8:12
This is another quality bit of deep house from Chris Howland, this time remixing David Thulin’s “Light In Me”. Although this was released over 2 years ago, it still sounds fresh!
The track starts with a basic beat and heavily reverbed slices of the vocals and synth stabs, gradually introducing elements of the deep house bass/pad hook. A short break leads you quickly into the drop where the fuller vocals come in alongside the full hook and additional synths.
Like some of the other tracks we’ve shared on the blog, this one doesn’t try to do anything too complicated which keeps the message of the lyrics (beautifully sung by Nicole Croteau) at the forefront.
Another breakdown later in the track brings in some more elongated synth chords around the main chorus before breaking into a simplified verse and building back into the bridge.
I love the message of this tune as it’s one full of the hope we have as Christians, that no matter the circumstances, whatever comes, God’s light is in us, will show us the way and will be displayed for all to see.
