You might assume from the name of this track that it’s going to be a dark and moody affair. In fact, it’s a great slice of house with a very summery vibe to it (maybe it was inspired by the great British summer?!).
Toxic Emotion puts a classic funky house twist on it (think early 2000s Defected releases) adding a more “live” sounding baseline, vocal stabs and replacing the synths with a piano progression.
The Chris Howland Remix retains more elements from the original mix but adds some nice deep house style pads, fuller vocals (declaring God’s cleansing of our sin at salvation – “You pour on me, just like a rain. Wash me clean, I’ll never be the same” – you can listen to Chris talking about the lyrics here) and additional piano chord stabs.
