Hard and moody Techno from Samuel Zamora on this one (out as part of “The Night Belongs To Us” compilation on MK837).
With pounding kicks, atmospheric synths and an array of stabs, bleeps and clicks, this track builds intensely to the main break which centres around Psalm 62:5-7:
“My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.
He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.
In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.”
Psalm 62:5-7 (KJV)
The track then drops into pulsing bass, driving beats layered with atmospheric synth progressions. Another breakdown featuring the spoken work verses from Psalms reinforces the message of the track before the second drop brings back the high-energy, driven vibes
Initially I wasn’t sure about the combination of a very encouraging, uplifting message and the darker edge to the feel of this track but, on further listens, it actually works really well. The overall feel of the instrumental, to me, is more one of steadfast determination (rather than anger/aggression), which is something I think we all need when it comes to waiting on God and trusting in Him alone.
MK837 is definitely the label to head to if you’re looking for Christian Techno / Tech House that’s on the harder side of things and this is another quality release from both the label and Samuel Zamora.
(P.s. If you like this, and haven’t already, make sure you also check out Shofar Dance from Samuel Zamora – also released on MK837 – we think you’ll love it!)
